Maltese Tiger is a Hybrid THCa flower strain bred by Blockhead Buds from Tiger Cake × Blueberry Frosting. This living soil batch tests at 31.413% THCa with 33.685% total cannabinoids and a 2.90% terpene profile led by caryophyllene at 0.90% — the highest terpene total in this release by a wide margin, and the only batch in the group where caryophyllene takes the top spot. Expect warm pepper and spice over bright citrus, with a sweet, herbal lift from an unusually high ocimene reading.
Maltese Tiger is a Hybrid strain grown here in living soil. This batch tests at 31.413% THCa, 27.746% total THC, and 33.685% total cannabinoids, with Δ9-THC at 0.197% and no detectable CBD. The minor cannabinoid fraction is concentrated rather than broad: CBGa at 1.653% carries most of it, with CBCa 0.183%, THCVa 0.182% and CBC 0.058% behind it.
Total terpenes come in at 2.90%, more than a full point above every other batch in this release. trans-Caryophyllene leads at 0.90% (31% of the profile), followed closely by limonene at 0.73% (25%) and then a standout cis-β-ocimene at 0.41% (14%). The rest of the panel: α-humulene 0.22%, linalool 0.15%, menthol 0.12%, α-pinene 0.10%, endo-fenchyl alcohol 0.10%, β-pinene 0.09% and β-myrcene 0.08%.
What makes this profile distinctive. Two things. First, the caryophyllene-and-humulene pair — both peppery, woody sesquiterpenes — adds up to over 1.1% on its own, which gives Maltese Tiger real spice and depth. Second, myrcene is nearly absent at 0.08%. Most published guesses about this strain list myrcene among its leads; our lab says otherwise. With little myrcene and a lot of limonene and ocimene, this is a brighter, less sedating hybrid than its dessert-cross parentage might suggest.
The nose is spice first: 0.90% caryophyllene brings cracked black pepper and warm wood, and the 0.22% humulene deepens it into something earthier and almost hop-like. Right behind it, 0.73% limonene lays a bright layer of citrus zest over the top. The 0.41% ocimene is what keeps it from reading as simply "peppery" — ocimene is sweet, green and faintly tropical, and it gives the whole profile a lift.
On the palate, the Blueberry Frosting side shows up as a soft, sweet berry note on the draw, followed by pepper and citrus through the middle and a cool, slightly herbal exhale from the menthol and linalool. Dispensary and grower descriptions of Maltese Tiger mention blueberry, sweet tropical fruit, citrus zest and earthy spice — all of which line up with what this batch actually measured.
Published descriptions of Maltese Tiger are split on where it sits: some call it a balanced hybrid, others sativa-leaning, and reports describe a tingly, euphoric head rush followed by full-body relaxation.
This batch points toward the brighter end of that range. With limonene at 0.73% and myrcene at just 0.08%, there is plenty of mood-lifting citrus and very little of the terpene most associated with couch-lock. The heavy caryophyllene adds a grounded, calm body feel without weighing you down. We would use Maltese Tiger from the afternoon into the evening — social settings, cooking, music, a walk — and it is one of the more versatile hybrids in this drop. At 31.413% THCa, start with a small amount if you are new to this potency range.
Maltese Tiger comes from Blockhead Buds, a small Southern California breeding operation run by the same breeder credited with Super Boof. The breeder's own seed listing gives the cross as Tiger Cake × Blueberry Frosting, and every grower, dispensary and seed listing we could find repeats it. Unlike many strains on our menu, there is no competing cultivar with the same name.
Maltese Tiger is a newer craft cross. No release year is documented, and the earliest dated listings we found are from early 2026. No lab-verified terpene profile has been published for it anywhere we could find, which makes this COA one of the more useful public references for the strain.
On classification. Most sources call it a Hybrid; a few call it sativa-leaning. We shelve it as Hybrid, and this batch's chemistry supports a lighter, brighter hybrid.
No awards. Maltese Tiger has no documented cup win in any category. Super Boof's 2024 Strain of the Year title belongs to a different strain from the same breeder and does not transfer.
Also searched as: Maltise Tiger. Not to be confused with Maltese Tiger × Blockberry, a separate seed cross from the same breeder.

What are the parents of Maltese Tiger?
Tiger Cake × Blueberry Frosting, bred by Blockhead Buds — the same breeder credited with Super Boof.
Has Maltese Tiger won any awards?
No. There is no documented cup win for Maltese Tiger.
How potent is this batch?
31.413% THCa with 33.685% total cannabinoids and 2.90% total terpenes — the most terpene-rich flower in this release.
Store Maltese Tiger in an airtight container in a cool, dark, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Ocimene and limonene are among the most volatile terpenes, and they are what keep this profile bright — the pepper will hold up, but the lift on top is the first thing to fade if the jar is left open or warm.
